Gmaps + Mapbox = 78,000 api calls could be a very low quota, for what I’ve seen (gmaps stats), it’s about 500 – 1000 users visiting the site 1 to 5 times a month (not sure).
Is there a guide or tips to avoid using too much calls in MyListing?
I can think of:
- Disable Google Autocomplete for searching, use Regions or other taxonomy.
- Restrict usage per user per time-frame.
- Use Gmaps and switch to Mapbox when close to 28.000 api calls.
I think this could work, but not sure:
- Replace the listing map with a GMaps shortcode (lister needs to copy/paste the map url, so the displayed map is not using our Gmaps API). So in the EXPLORE it’s using our API, but in the single listing the block displaying the map uses the URL provided.
Does this make any sense? I suppose that not having the MAP block grabbing the map from the provided ADDRESS will effectively reduce API calls, but not sure.
If you could give me any more tips I’ll be very thankful.
Sorry for the long post.
