Good morning,
so i am currently putting together a golfing directory website. Just to give you an insight into my current accomplishments within the theme i have 3 listing types as follows:
Club : This is similar to the Places used in your mycity demo
Competitions : This is similar to the Events used in your mycity demo
Tours : This is essentially an event which would be involved over time using multiple Clubs
So as it stands I would relate competitions to the club/venue, this feature works perfectly in its current state. My complications are arising from my new Tour listing.
Personally if i was creating Tours myself i could simply put a table in and put links in to the clubs associated manually in an Itinerary section and again include manual dates and what not. Firstly is it applicable to include a shortcode that brings in a specific listing (so a specific club in this case?) Secondly from a user perspective id actually like the ability for them to select the Clubs/Venues involved whilst creating a Tour listing. I guess the most tangible option would be to have a multiselect dropdown that pulls in all Clubs or use the related listing however, in this case its not tangible as i would only be able to select one Club, where as the Tour will span across multiple venues.
An alternative would be to create 2 listing types to accommodate tours. One being “Tours” the other being “Tour Competitions” the only thing that would make this work is by having the “Tour Competitions” have 2 related listings: one being the “Club”, the other being the “Tour”. This would negate the need to be able to select multiple related listings and instead have 2 related listings fields. (currently you can only add the related listing once.
At the moment i can make this work by creating a Tour Competition and having a static page for each tour, whilst manually including each specific listing related to that tour.
I can give reference to the site to make things clearer.
Thank you for your time.
